5 Basic Needs to make a recording studio (DAW)
1. Computer (PC)/Laptop
Computer (PC) to DAW require much power as possible from the computer when using the software. PC games need a high specification for the VGA display of 3D graphics from the game. As for PC DAW require large memory capacity and processor with maximum speed with a large hard drive to store data. Also because of the use of long duration (many hours in the studio) PC DAW should also be equipped with a good power supply and cooling system, the maximum to avoid crashes / hangs. Also required settings on the operating system (Windows / Mac), disabling unneeded services.

2. Soundcard / Converter / Audio Interface Soundcard or a converter or a more precise term that is an audio interface, which serves to connect the PC with a microphone or musical instrument. Then convert the analog audio signal into digital audio data and transmit that data into a PC so that in the end, the sound can be heard through the monitor speakers or headphones. What about the onboard soundcard? It could, but to pursue a professional recording quality should not be too much hope. Audio is not good, high noise, low bits max sampling 16-bit, latency (delay in response to sound) high, and existing connections are not standard (only 3.5 mm jack). So forget on board and select a better audio interface. Also try to buy a soundcard complete with pre-amp and phantom powernya, so no need to buy separately. Here are things to be noticed.

A. Connection type who wants to use, Is PCI / PCIe, USB, or Firewire? make sure the connection is available on your PC. Do not let the soundcard that has been purchased can not be used.

B. The number of input and output requirements, If you want to record instruments one by one, 2 or 4 inputs is enough. If you want to record a drum instrument usually need 8 inputs or more. Make sure also that the audio interface has an input for recording instruments who want to loe record. If you want to record the output of the microphone is required Mic Input. If you want to record MIDI MIDI input is required.

C. Software & operating system what to use, It also needs to get attention, because the performance will be maximized if the audio interface format is supported by the driver of the soundcard is great software. For Windows users (PCs), drivers audio formats commonly known and used a lot of people today is ASIO (Audio Streaming Input Output). For users of Apple (Mac), Digidesign CoreAudio driver is a dedicated audio formats for artificial Digidesign Pro Tools software. Software Pro Tools can only be run using certain audio interfaces, as follows: - Pro Tools TDM: Digidesign interface requires HD series such as HD1, HD2, etc.. - Pro Tools LE: Digidesign interface requires Digi001 series, Digi002, and so on. - Pro Tools M-Powered: need M-Audio interfaces For Windows users who want to run Pro Tools, Digidesign ASIO could use a driver.

3. Monitor Speakers Different from the monitor speakers computer speakers in general. In accordance with its function is designed specifically for recording, mixing or mastering. Monitor speakers have a frequency response evenly. Level of accuracy and character of each speaker monitors vary, depending on the price, type, material, & big speakers inches from it. One thing that is often neglected but actually quite important in the selection of the monitor speakers is the condition of the room. The room with good acoustics system will support the performance of the monitor speakers, and vice versa. The room with good acoustics will affect the poor sound quality issued by the monitor speakers, monitor speakers regardless of price.

4. Microphone There are 2 types of microphones, the microphone dynamic and condenser microphones. For the record the vocals need a condenser microphone type, in order to get the maximum votes, according to the source of the sound. Each condenser microphone also has a different character, depending on the brand, type, and it contains components in it.

5. Software Usually referred to as multitrack / Sequencer. There are 2 software is the most popular and frequently used by both record companies, musicians, to the beginner in the world of recording. Digidesign Pro Tools software with its known and Steinberg Cubase / NUENDO. Each software has advantages and disadvantages of each. There is also a Sonar, Digital Performer, Logic Pro, etc.. Especially for virtual instrument software, much more on the market. Virtual Instruments is replacing the role of analog instruments such as drums, piano, guitar etc so they can save space studio space. This technology is called a Virtual Studio.
